Salesforce Integration

The following three security licensing tiers can be applied to Salesforce instances offering differing levels of security services. Refer to Salesforce license types and SaaS Alerts functionality.

  • Basic security

Steps in SaaS Alerts

  1. From the left navigation menu, navigate to Organizations.
  2. Click the Edit Organization pencil icon .
  3. Click Add Organization.
  4. Select the Salesforce tile.
  5. Enter the Salesforce service domain for the organization to be connected. Enter only the domain without the URL prefix. The correct domain entry without the URL prefix can be found in Settings within Salesforce:
  6. EXAMPLE    mydomain.mysalesforce.com

    NOTE  Adding domains including lightning may fail, and the domain.my.salesforce.com versions allow proper connection.

    EXAMPLE   Incorrect domain entry that includes URL prefix: www.mydomain.my.salesforce.com or https://mydomain.my.salesforce.com. Domains entered in this format will not work.

Steps in Salesforce

  1. Using a System Admin account, complete the authentication process with the credential provider used for the organization’s Salesforce account.
  2. If necessary, complete secondary authentication steps required for authentication.
  3. Verify the connection by clicking on Allow.
  4. Salesforce is now connected. Salesforce will appear as an additional application on the organization’s detail page.
  5. Salesforce user accounts will be imported and added to the organization’s accounts list.
  6. NOTE  SaaS Alerts does not import an organizations Salesforce accounts

FAQ

Why does Salesforce report so many new device events?

Salesforce reports login events and new device events from different endpoints. One issue is that, beyond the user ID, there is no other data in both events to correlate. Additionally, Salesforce looks at a browser cookie when deciding what they consider a new device, and if this cookie has changed since the last login event, Salesforce reports this a new device event. This is directly from Salesforce and not a data interpretation by SaaS Alerts. Refer to the Salesforce documentation regarding this subject: Client Browser
